Kyle Busch earned his first victory of the year with the STP 500 win at Martinsville Speedway. Busch led more than half of the event Sunday evening, one day after winning in the Camping World Truck Series.
Pit stops were key for the driver of the #18 M&Ms Toyota Camry. He praised the quick pit stops that led to his victory, “That was huge, the race off pit road. My guys were flawless today. We made a few adjustments to the car throughout the day, and they kept getting me out and not even losing a spot on pit road.”
Busch will take home two Grandfather Clocks after coming into the weekend with zero in his career.
AJ Allmendinger, Kyle Larson, Austin Dillon, and Brad Keselowski rounded out the top 5, while defending spring race winner Denny Hamlin finished 39th.
Hamlin began wheel-hopping on lap 221 and made contact with the outside wall. The damage could not be repaired for a return.
